January 2012 Almond Report
Domestic shipments of 38 million pounds was up 2.5% from 37 million pounds same month 2011. Export shipments lead the increase with 115.6 million pounds, which was a 39.8% increase over same month 2011 at 82.7 million pounds. China played a significant role in the boost, shipping 21.4 million pounds, which was an increase of 548% from January 2011.
January shipments have set the stage for a very firm market through 2012. Committed inventory is up across the board: Domestic +14%, Export +46%, and Total Commitments +28%.

Vita - Pakt Citrus Update
In its December report, The U.S. Department of Agriculture stated orange production was up 2% from its initial forecast in October and up 3% from 2010 - 2011. The California orange forecast is down 6% from last season's revised final utilization. The navel orange forecast is down 8% from last season, and the crop continues to develop slightly behind schedule. The lemon forecast is equal from last season, however, the desert, where predominantly most of the lemons are sourced, is currently down by 60%.
In other news, Vita - Pakt has announced a record processing year for kiwi, and with the completetion of their two year capital investment to their Lindsay Plant, their facility is now capable of processing 35% more volume! January 2012 - Van Amerongen Coconut Update
Van Amerongen has reported the drought which occurred in the Philippines from late 2009 to early 2010 is well behind us! Weather has returned to normal and product stocks appear to be almost back to normal as well. 2012 looks promising in terms of product availability and price softening.

December Almond Shipments
In summary, the shipments were overall 2.4% behind same month prior year with Dec.’11 total shipments of 157.2 million pounds compared to 160.968 million pounds Dec.10. Domestic shipments for Dec.’11 were 36.6 million pound vs. 40.6 million pounds Dec.’10.
Crop year to date shipments (8/1 – 12/31/11) when compared to last crop year are as follows:
Domestic 227.8 mm lbs vs 218.7 mm lbs + 4.15%
Export 639.8 mm lbs vs 581.4 mm lbs +10.04%
Total 876.5 mm lbs vs 800.1 mm lbs + 8.43%
Crain Walnut Report - 1/12/12
January 2012 - Pecan Update
Production is forecast at 252 million pounds (utilized, in-shell basis), 14 % below 2010. Improved varieties are expected to produce 216 million pounds or 86 % of the total, while native and seedling varieties at 36.0 million pounds, make up the remaining 14 % of production.
In Georgia, despite the drought conditions experienced this summer, the crop is expected to be good. In New Mexico, reduced production is expected due to these same drought conditions. In Texas, even though this is an “on” year for pecan production, producers reported low expectations for this year’s crop due to severe drought conditions across much of the pecan producing region.

November Almond Report
Domestic Shipments were 53.4 million pounds or 18% over the same month 2010. Export Shipments were 159.7 million pounds or 17% over Nov. '10.
Total shipments of 213.1 million pounds represents a increase of 22% over November '10.
As a result of another record breaking shipment report, the market remains bullish and pricing very firm.
October Walnut Crop Report
Concord Harvest Update
The Concord Harvest has begun in the Yakima Valley. Milne Fruit reports to be completed around November 7th. At this time it is estimated there will be 20.5% less Concord than average years. This has been one of the coolest growing seasons and latest harvests on record. This is the Wests 2nd straight year of weather related reduced tonnage. We hope to return to normal with the 2012 crop.
